What You Will Experience

1st Stop: Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Located in the central Ubud, this is a nature reserve, a place to see Hindu Temple and home to approximately 600 macaque monkeys. Monkey Forrest is a symbol of harmonious coexistence of humans with nature. Although the monkeys are fun to watch, the main feature of this forest are the three main temples inside. Make sure your camera is ready to take some good photos while the monkey is crawling on your shoulder.

2nd Stop: Ubud Bali Traditional Art Market
The variety of merchandise can be overwhelming. You can buy plenty of art with traditional and religious themes, from Buddha heads to topeng masks to statues of Wisnu and Garuda. There are lots of choice for souvenir like hand-painted kites, brightly colored sarongs, and intricately patterned batiks. Home decor and housewares make a strong showing at  Ubud Market, too, with a proliferation of incenses, fragrances, ceramics, wall hangings and carved picture frames for sale.

3rd Stop: Puri Saren, Ubud Royal Palace
The Royal Palace has been home to the royal family of Ubud since the late 19th century to the mid-1940s and is still inhabited by descendants of the last king. You can wander around in most of the large compound exploring the many traditional and ornate buildings. Take time to appreciate the stone sculptures, many of the local artists noted as I Gusti Nyoman Lempad. If you visit the palace on Sunday you will see children learn Balinese dance from 9:00 – 10.30am.

4th Stop: Tegallalang Rice Terrace
Bali’s natural beauty comes in countless forms but the rice terraces create some of the island’s most awe-inspiring backdrop. The fields are various shades of green and are extremely well maintained. The coconut trees still give an extra charm. Be sure to walk through the rice fields to explore close its distinctive architecture. After the tour, relax in one of the many cafes overlooking the rice fields. Don’t forget to take some Instagram photos with a wonderful background.

5th Stop: Tirta Empul Temple with Holly Spring and Holy Bath Ritual
This temple is built around a sacred spring, and its two bathing spots have been used by the Balinese for a millennium. It is believed that the springs have magical powers and bring good health and prosperity. Pack your bathing suit and experience the springs as the Balinese do. Ducking your head under each of the 13 holy springs, feel the significance of the waters as they cleanse your past and you emerge ready to create the future.
